Company
- What is the company “mission statement”? (Or objectives)
- How does the role / team / department fit into the overall structure of the division and the company?
- What are the growth plans for the company, and how will this impact the team?
- Who does the company consider to be their competitors? And where do the company perceive they are positioned in this marketplace?
The role
- What are the day to day responsibilities?
- What qualities are necessary to ensure success in this role?
- What are the SLAs and how are they monitored? If SLAs are not hit what is the impact on the business?
- Are SLAs currently being achieved or exceeded?
- Are there any customers or individuals that require special attention?
- Why did this position come available?
Performance
- How will my performance be measured?
- How often will I be appraised?
Progression
- What career opportunities are available in the medium and long term?
- Can you give an example of someone that joined the company and has progressed their career?
- What attracted the interviewer to the company?
Training
- What training / support is provided? I.e. Internal / External / Vocational
- Is there an induction course / presentation when you join the company?
- What subjects / topics would be beneficial to self-study for this opportunity?
Culture
- What are the other team members like?
- Who would be my line manager, and how do they like to manage?
- What is the profile of my direct reports?
Final Discussion
Having met me and discussed my skills and experience, what reservations / queries do you have as to my suitability for the role?
If you are interested in the company and the opportunity it is always a good idea to tell the client this at interview. E.g. “ Having listened to what you have to say about the opportunity, company culture I would like to tell you that I am keen / interested to pursue this opportunity / take to the next stage etc. This will leave the client with a clear picture that you are committed to what he / she has to offer.
